The Rev. Jay Sidebotham
The Rev. Jay Sidebotham is the Director of RenewalWorks. He also now serves as associate rector at St. James’ Parish in Wilmington, NC. Sidebotham comes to this work out of his experience as rector of Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, IL, where he led the congregation through a period of sustained focus on spiritual growth and renewal. Before coming to Church of the Holy Spirit, he served at St. Bart’s, New York City; St. Columba’s, Washington, DC; St. Luke’s, Durham, NC; and St. Martin’s, Providence, RI. He is well known for his cartoons about church life and his animation work on the television series Schoolhouse Rock!
Loren Dixon, from Lake Forest, IL, serves as Associate Director. She helps us think strategically about how we work with churches, makes sure our materials are user friendly, enhances our “customer service” with participating churches, and generally supports our efforts in the best way possible. Loren was an active participant in the RenewalWorks process at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
The Rev. Clarence Langdon
The Rev. Dr. Clarence M. Langdon is retired from the bishop’s staff of Diocese of Chicago, after serving there for 12 years. Before joining the bishop’s staff, Clarence served in parish ministry for 40 years, the last 25 years as rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Park Ridge, IL. He administers Making Excellent Disciples, a mentoring program for newly ordained clergy. Clarence is a graduate of Northern Colorado University and the General Theological Seminary in New York City (GTS) and received a D.Min. from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Clarence has been an Episcopal priest since 1962, celebrating 50 years of ordained ministry in 2012.
Eric Arnson serves as an advisor, helping advance the Episcopal Spiritual Life Inventory, interpret the data findings, and apply the insights throughout the RenewalWorks initiative. He is a contributing author to REVEAL: Where are You? the original congregant study on spiritual development. He founded ENVISION, a research firm acquired by McKinsey & Company, deploying the same methodology to understand parishioners love of God and others—though their beliefs, relationships and actions. He began his career with Procter & Gamble, after graduating from the University of Michigan.
Samantha Franklin provides administrative support for RenewalWorks from Winston-Salem, NC. She assists with marketing and workshop materials, scheduling, event planning, social media and anything else the team may need.
